What can be more fun than doing your favorite yoga poses with one of your favorite people?

Partner Yoga
Saturday, April 6, 2024
4-5:30pm
with Katie Herold and Mary Kay LaGuardia
$60/couple | Advanced registration required

Note: 1 person will register and pay for both. Please arrive 10 minutes early, as the partner must complete a waiver at the studio before the workshop begins.

Yoga is rewarding, but practicing it with a partner can make things even more enjoyable. Through partner yoga, you can develop interpersonal qualities of trust, communication, surrender, and connection while improving strength, flexibility, and balance.

Katie and Mary Kay will guide you and your chosen partner through traditional yoga poses using physical touch to support one another. You will move together through poses dynamically, connecting breath and movement while finding deeper exploration of static postures.

The creative use of modifications and props makes this session appropriate for beginners to intermediate practitioners and anyone in between.

Each participant must bring their mat.  Other props will be available.

About Katie and Mary Kay

Katie Herold and Mary Kay LaGuardia first met through teacher training at Yoga Among Friends’ inaugural class of 2019.  Though their continued development as teachers has branched out into diverse areas, they continue to learn from and support each other.

As a life-long learner, Katie (RYT-200) continues her yoga training through workshops and self-study. “I don’t think of it so much as ‘teaching’ but rather sharing knowledge to help others learn and grow in their practice as I have – to help them discover themselves.” Her classes emphasize self-awareness throughout, incorporating gentle flow, connecting breath with movement, and static poses utilizing props for accessibility. With a sprinkle of restorative postures and guided meditation, her classes provide a bit of everything for all ages.

Mary Kay (ERYT-200) discovered yoga's calming, healing power 21 years ago during a very difficult time in her life. She went from a broken state, physically and emotionally, to feeling whole and balanced, and has been practicing ever since. Mary says, “I believe a yoga practice paves the way for life acceptance, clarity, and balance. Strengthening the body, mind, and spirit enables a calmer, more peaceful way to navigate life. I am passionate about living well and aging well. I believe the tools of yoga empower people to feel whole, to wake up, and to navigate life skillfully.”

Along the way, her teaching practice has evolved to support the changes and challenges of aging. She specializes in alignment-based gentle yoga, chair yoga, and yoga nidra to steady the mind and strengthen the body. She intends to share the tools of yoga and inspire students to awaken themselves physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally with grace and acceptance. Mary Kay is currently refining her teaching skills through the Prairie Yoga/The Yoga Lounge advanced (300-hour) teacher training program. She hopes to inspire students of all ages and abilities to mindfully and safely find joy on and off the mat.
