YogaKids 3-8 years  •  Yoga for Tweens 9-12 years

Join us for kids classes at Yoga Among Friends! Our YogaKids® and Yoga for Tweens classes are just that - kid friendly! YogaKids® is the original program for empowering kids through yoga and each awesome, inclusive class features activities for kids of all ages and abilities. Our fun, playful classes are focused on attentive breathing, interactive asanas, and calming practices. Yoga essentials are incorporated to encourage healthy habits, concentration and memory, limber bodies, and sleep-filled nights. This is a class that offers children a freedom from curriculum and competition where creativity, confidence, and courage can flourish. It encourages them to explore their own emotional and physical capabilities and enjoy the peacefulness of relaxation. Classes are led by Krista Fox, a certified YogaKids® teacher.

Classes are 60 minutes. Bathrooms are located near the yoga room. 10 child maximum. It is $104 for the 10 week session, $52 for a 5 week series, and registration is highly encouraged. Caught us mid-session? We do welcome drop-ins at $13/class.

As always:

  • If your child would like water during class, bring a water bottle that closes securely.
  • If your child does misbehave, know that he/she will be given two warnings, and then they will be asked to sit with our “Peace Pig” for 3-5 minutes.

About Krista Fox, our YogaKids® and Yoga for Tweens teacher

Krista Fox

Krista Fox was introduced to Hatha/Vinyasa yoga over 10 years ago and immediately took to the practice.  She soon discovered a new strength and flexibility in her body, spirit and everyday living and decided to share that with others...specifically kids.  She embarked on the journey to become a kids instructor became YogaKids® certified! Her personal YogaKids mission statement is to introduce a modern yoga practice to children using the 14 elements of YogaKids (art, reading, music, etc.) along with traditional yoga movement to educate the whole child in a mindful, fun, and safe environment.

About Julie Pate, our Mommy & Me teacher

Julie first discovered yoga over 20 years ago while working as a personal trainer, Pilate’s teacher and running coach. Julie loved the way yoga balanced her workouts and left her feeling calm and peaceful. In 2012, she graduated from a 200 hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training with Sara Starnes in the Anusara tradition and is currently enrolled in the Step2 500 hour Yoga Therapy program with Laura Jane Mellencamp Murphy. Julie believes that our bodies were meant to move, and she strives to give you the antidote to sitting and a sedentary lifestyle. She infuses a love of movement and a deep appreciate for life’s many gifts into her classes. When Julie teaches, hers is a heart-felt vinyasa flow style class that weaves a sense of gratitude into the practice leaving you feeling strong, peaceful, and focused. Besides teaching yoga, Julie is also our studio manager.

About Jessica Castro, our Summer Kids Yoga Series teacher

Jessica has been a certified massage therapist for 14 years. Seeing the relationship between yoga and massage therapy, along with its undeniable benefits,  led her to attend a 200 hr YTT through Soderworld Wellness Center. This training helped to deepen her personal practice and better appreciate the abundant healing knowledge our body has, if accessed with intent. In 2015 Jessica attended her second 200 hr YTT at Garaj Mahal, with Marina Lisjonok and Karen Weber. This training helped Jessica to better understand and incorporate the philosophy of yoga, importance of pranayama (breathwork) and the immense gift, that grace and flow in asana, can offer to your practice.

Besides teaching clients privately, Jessica also enjoys teaching kids! The tools that come from a steady yoga practice can help to manifest a clear, strong and energetically balanced body, heart and mind.

Coupling yoga and massage helps Jessica to guide students into a clearer body awareness, give practical take home tools to continue strengthening, as well as open them to the many healing components of yoga, meditation and breathwork.
