Prenatal Yoga is designed to reduce the aches and pains which accompany pregnancy, in a nurturing and supportive environment. The class teaches strength and stamina, as well as concentration and breath control. You will focus on special breathing techniques, opening the hips, and preparing your body for birth. Learn techniques to alleviate lower back pain, leg pain and slumping posture by practicing gentle, modified yoga poses and breathing exercises. Prenatal yoga class is also a wonderful opportunity for you to connect with other pregnant women and celebrate your changing bodies and growing babies. Appropriate for expectant mothers at all stages of pregnancy.

This unique class is taught by Therese Carlson RN, CYT - a registered nurse and yoga teacher. She is the mother of 3 young adults. Therese just completed her 500hr Teacher Training at Prairie Yoga and certified through Global Yoga Center in Chicago for Prenatal Yoga. She also works as a nurse in the community. Therese uses her 33 years of nursing experience and her love of yoga to nurture, strengthen and guide moms-to-be through this exciting journey.

Meditation can be difficult to do it on your own and finding a meditation group can provide the necessary encouragement for developing a consistent practice.

During this 6 week class, you will be supported in the process of reconnecting to a place of deep relaxation and inner calm. Whether you are new to meditation or a seasoned meditator, you will feel a real connection with others as we sit together and meditate.

Every week you will be guided through a different meditation, focusing on breath, mantra, visualization and body scan. These meditation tools with help you continue your meditation practice at home, work or school. Afterwards, you will have the option to discuss and share your experiences about the meditations.

Restorative Yoga

This Restorative Yoga class is a time to nourish, nurture and create balance in your body, mind, and spirit.  Students will connect to the body through sequencing that supports our whole being. Ellen will provide breath awareness, visualization, and auditory guidance creating an imprint empowering the student.  A restorative practice frequently relies on the use of props to achieve a deep level of relaxation.  

This deep conscious relaxation benefits all the organ systems of the body.  A few of the measureable results include: reduced blood pressure, lower serum triglycerides & blood sugar levels; increase in “good” cholesterol; improved digestion, elimination, and fertility; relaxed muscles; and reduced insomnia & generalized fatigue.  These benefits work together to create a more harmonious state of being.  Research shows the effects of rest calm the nervous system and reverse the effects of stress and aging.   

Through the techniques of the practice, you awaken grace, poise, flexibility, balance, strength, and present moment awareness. As a tool for self-transformation, restorative yoga facilitates the integration of all the layers of life—environmental, physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual—culminating in the goal of all goals, awakening to your own divine nature.

This is a great class for people who are new to yoga (beginners) as well as those who are recovering from certain injuries or trauma, those who need to de-stress from work, and those or restore from a more vigorous yoga practice (or who workout, run, lift weights, play golf, play tennis and/or participate is other moderate/vigorous sports and exercise programs).

Each class ends with a meditative guided relaxation called Yoga Nidra which can bring the healing effects of deep sleep to the mind as well as body restoring your whole being.

Perfect for everyone including nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, and others in health professions. 200TT starts in February 2019 and will meet one weekend a month through February 2020.

 Fire Practice: The ultimate aim of yoga practice is to awaken our inner fire-the force of spirit. Activation of the force of fire leads to extraordinary perception and living. This practice focuses on generating the energy that dissolves inertia and limitations while activating Sushumma, the central channel or Nadi. 

 Tricia Fiske has been a student of yoga since 1997, began teaching in 1999, and has been studying exclusively with ParaYoga founder Yogarupa Rod Stryker since 2000. Tricia is a Level III Certified ParaYoga instructor and is primary faculty at Prairie Yoga Teacher Training. 

Tricia came to yoga after an unexpected life change that left her full of self-doubt. Yoga helped her see herself clearly again and understand that when things happen, they often bring about profound but powerful change aligning you with your dharma. 

Tricia's teaching style is energy focused, built on vinyasa krama (meaning "to intentionally place") and based in spirit.

This Restorative Yoga class is a time to nourish, nurture and create balance in your body, mind, and spirit.  Students will connect to the body through sequencing that supports our whole being. Ellen will provide breath awareness, visualization, and auditory guidance creating an imprint empowering the student.  A restorative practice frequently relies on the use of props to achieve a deep level of relaxation.  

This deep conscious relaxation benefits all the organ systems of the body.  A few of the measureable results include: reduced blood pressure, lower serum triglycerides & blood sugar levels; increase in “good” cholesterol; improved digestion, elimination, and fertility; relaxed muscles; and reduced insomnia & generalized fatigue.  These benefits work together to create a more harmonious state of being.  Research shows the effects of rest calm the nervous system and reverse the effects of stress and aging.   

Through the techniques of the practice, you awaken grace, poise, flexibility, balance, strength, and present moment awareness. As a tool for self-transformation, restorative yoga facilitates the integration of all the layers of life—environmental, physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual—culminating in the goal of all goals, awakening to your own divine nature.

This is a great class for people who are new to yoga (beginners) as well as those who are recovering from certain injuries or trauma, those who need to de-stress from work, and those or restore from a more vigorous yoga practice (or who workout, run, lift weights, play golf, play tennis and/or participate is other moderate/vigorous sports and exercise programs).

Each class ends with a meditative guided relaxation called Yoga Nidra which can bring the healing effects of deep sleep to the mind as well as body restoring your whole being.

Perfect for everyone including nurses, psychologists, physical therapists, and others in health professions. 200TT starts in February 2019 and will meet one weekend a month through February 2020.

This progressive 6 week introductory course is designed for students new to yoga to explore the basics, develop strength, balance, and flexibility and experience the peace of mind yoga promises. In this class we will cover:

Retreat Costs & Registration

Cost

The cost of the retreat is $2115 double occupancy with a $600 deposit due at time of booking. The full payment is due no later than January 31, 2019. Limited single occupancy is available at a higher rate or $2599—call the studio to inquire 630-960-5488. Payment methods: PayPal, credit card, cash, check. Discounted rate of $2055 double occupancy, if paying by cash or check in full. Book by October 1 and save $100!

The cost of the retreat includes:

  • Roundtrip airport transportation to & from the resort

  • Deluxe accomodations for 7 nights

  • 3 gourmet vegetarian meals daily. Fish & seafood are offered several times per week and gluten/dairy free options are available upon request
