Global Hope has been given a wonderful opportunity to further serve the people of the Lower Ninth Ward in New Orleans. During our January service trip we met a group of builders, also from outside New Orleans, who were working elsewhere in the city. Conversations led to an invitation for them to visit us at the Global Hope/Common Ground worksite. Shocked by the devastation that remains in the Lower Ninth Ward, these accomplished business leaders did what they do best: they assessed the situation, created a plan, committed resources, and asked Global Hope to partner with them and get to work immediately. As a result, in early March, Global Hope will be working alongside these builders to complete the first church to be rebuilt Post-Katrina in the Lower Ninth Ward.
Here’s some background: Reverend Louis Adams and his Congregation had just completed a $60,000 renovation of their church when the flood waters hit. Although the structure was deemed salvageable, it was demolished by the city of New Orleans. The passage of time has only increased the parishioners commitment to reclaim their spiritual home and continue their service to their community. In early March, representatives of Global Hope will be a part of this endeavor. More information can be found in the following two articles as well as the Global Hope website:
